While I know it has been a while since I've posted - I'll keep everything in chronological order.....starting with Memorial Day....which was the day of the Capital of Texas Triathlon. All the efforts of 5 months of training - Jay and his Team in Training group were ready to participate in the Olympic distance Tri. Well, God had other plans....because it was an absolute monsoon!!! We arrived around 5:30 in the morning and it was pouring....and it never stopped! They first canceled the swim b/c the lake was overflowing. In it's place the athletes were going to run a 5k, then bike, then run a 10k. Well, that plan only lasted for about 30 minutes and they cancelled the whole event b/c the streets were unsafe to bike with all the water standing. In true Team in Training spirit, their team still ran a 5k in the rain.....to show their dedication and enthusiasm for raising money for cancer research and displaying their dedication to the sport. Here are some pictures showing everything from Jay's gear prep the night before to the final lap of the rainy run. Everyone was bummed to not get to cross the real finish line; however, as any endurance athlete knows......it's not about the race, it's the journey!
