Update on Ike

Ike is definitely headed straight for Texas.  It's crazy how much we're being effected some 200 miles from the storm.  Schools closed at noon today and some all day to accommodate evacuees.  Apparently there are already 25,000 evacuees in Austin.  Traffic was crazy coming home from work.  I avoided the major highways and still was caught in a lot of it at 3:30 this afternoon!  Most of the high school football games were played last night if possible, a few tonight, and if neither of those worked, they were cancelled all together.  UT even cancelled their game for tomorrow earlier this week.
I stopped to get gas in case the supply really is stopped for a while and had to wait some time in line - obviously everyone else had this idea also!
So far it is really windy and the sky had a beautiful sunset tonight.  At the advice of Jay's parents, we did roll our grill in the garage in case the winds get to 70 mph as expected.  Otherwise, we're hunkered down watching the 1 channel we get off of our rabbit ears (remember, we don't have cable!).  Unfortunately the only channel that comes in is Fox, but at least we get real time updates.  Sensationalized as they may be on Fox, it works for now.
